A farm in Santa Maria played a part in this weekend's 68th Emmy Awards' Governors Ball in Los Angeles.
Babé Farms in Santa Maria supplied beets, lettuce, fennel and colored carrots for the ball's menu. The lettuce, beets and fennel all went into a prepared salad and the carrots were on the steak plate. In all, about 40,000 pieces of produce came from Babé Farms.
Jeff Lundberg, the co-owner of the farm, said the ball's chef visited Babé Farms a few months ago to take a look at the produce.
"They actually had come up a couple months prior to that and brought press and people. The chef walked through our fields take a look at all our stuff, kind of showed us what they wanted for size and we kind of spent some time with them in the field. It was kind of cool," explains Lundberg.
In all, the produce from Babé Farms supplied for 16,000 plates. The theme of the dinner was a connection of the farm to table movement.
